Meet Our Symbol
The Meaning of the Akumed Symbol
The Akumed symbol represents the connection between medicine, acupuncture, Lithuanian heritage, healing nature, spiritual harmony, and the universal wisdom that accompanies the history of acupuncture.
It is designed to reflect the essence of our clinic: evidence-based medical acupuncture, rooted in culture, nature, and inner human balance.
Medical and Acupuncture Symbols
• Acupuncture Needle
The needle symbolizes precision, subtle therapeutic action, and the healing art grounded in anatomy and neurophysiology — the foundation of medical acupuncture.
• Staff with a Serpent
One of the oldest symbols of the medical profession, representing renewal, wisdom, and healing.
In Lithuanian culture, the žaltys (grass snake)
carries additional meaning:
– protection from harm,
– harmony and wellbeing in the home,
– connection to nature and life energy.
This gives the Akumed symbol both medical and
cultural protective value.
Lithuanian Archetypes
The Akumed emblem also incorporates elements inspired by Baltic cultural symbolism:
• Žaltys (Grass Snake)
Protection, wisdom, and the flow of life.
• The World Tree
One of the most profound cosmic symbols in Baltic culture.
It represents the connection between:
– the spiritual and material worlds,
– the cosmos and the earth,
– the body and the soul.
This mirrors the essence of acupuncture: the integration of physiological processes with emotional and energetic balance.
• The Sun and the Point
The Sun represents life, light, and healing warmth.
The point symbolizes intention, energy, and a new beginning. Start. End. Infinite.
Together, they reflect the core principle of acupuncture: a single point can initiate transformation throughout the entire system.
International Clarity and Recognition
The symbol intentionally includes the English phrase “Medical Acupuncture”, because:
-
many of our patients come from abroad,
-
it improves search and visibility internationally,
-
it clearly communicates that we provide medical, not cosmetic or alternative, acupuncture,
-
it aligns with global medical standards.
The Meaning of the Colors: Green and Gold
The colors chosen for the Akumed symbol have both cultural and symbolic significance:
• Colors of the Lithuanian and Brazilian flags
A tribute to the two cultures that shaped my professional path.
• Medical and Spiritual Symbolism
Green
– health, healing, nature, renewal,
– the body's natural ability to restore itself.
Golden / Yellow
– solar energy, transformation, rebirth,
– divine light, spiritual strength, healing.
Together they create a balance between earthly medicine and higher spiritual energy that accompanies the healing journey.
